A letter from the executive director
On March 23rd my son Landon turned 10, in the midst of the COVID-19 activity. If you understand children, you will know he had been planning his birthday since his last one ended, and the plans were BIG. Due to the current status, none of his BIG plans could come true. But because of Landon’s disappointment and COVID-19, I have been forced to reconsider my world, its people and their actions. First, my world is a fragile place which depends on small details for much if its life — like birthday parties or caring or washing hands — to work.
Second, the driving force in my world is its people. People are amazing and resilient and surprising, and they do good things for each other. That’s also the purpose of the St. Joseph’s Community Foundation, to do good things for the medical needs in our community. Our care happens through the giving of Community and Educational Grants, which is especially important as we experience this pandemic.
The Educational Grants we have given in the past are currently serving our community more than ever, as the doctors, nurses, and many others we have helped educate are working harder than ever on the front lines. And the funds we have given through our Community Grants are helping 501C3s, whose needs are even more monumental at this time.
This year the Foundation will surpass its Two Million giving mark. That’s $2 million dollars put back into OUR COMMUNITY to improve medical care for all, especially those most in need. I look forward to sharing more about that with you soon.
So, thank you for your continued support, your donations, and the differences you make in OUR COMMUNITY supporting SJCF during this trying time and always — small details which reap big dividends.
