Successes in 2018

A letter from the executive director

Last year’s Spring Newsletter ended with the story of my college roommate, Tiffany, who had just begun her battle with cancer. (To quickly recap, Tiffany and I met in Krueger Dorm at Texas A&M more than 25 years ago. She lived down the hall; we became fast friends; we lived together the next three years, and our friendship has grown deeper with the passage of time. She will always be my “roommate.”)

I have WONDERFUL news to report. After a double masectomy, chemo, and numerous other surgeries, Tiffany is CANCER FREE & SURGERIES ARE COMPLETED. In a recent post on her Caring Bridge Website, Tiffany shared this:

So why am I sharing this in the St. Joseph’s Community Foundation Newsletter? It hasn’t been only friends and family who have supported Tiffany during this battle, but remarkable doctors, gifted nurses, and so many other talented medical professionals — too many to name here.

And then, there are the St. Joseph’s Community Foundation people. This Foundation helps support those getting educated in the medical fields through educational grants. We also support the community organizations that help those most medically in need. Foundation support makes a difference in the lives of those we serve, as those who served Tiffany made a difference in her life. As Tiffany said, “I’m so blessed to have every one of you in my life!!!”

St. Joseph’s contributes to extraordinary changes! I am grateful to be a part of these efforts.

Others have messages to share, and you’ll find some of those experiences and stories in this newsletter edition.

Blessings,

Louisa L. Kessel

SJCF Executive Director
